Driving Component Selection through Actor-Oriented Models and Use Cases |

This paper reports results from a retrospective application of the REACT approach to COTS selection for a real-world financial planning, forecasting, and budgeting application. We derived actor-oriented models from existing use cases to represent the architecture of the system. We then investigated which combinations of components could be plugged into the system architecture as instances of model actors, and applied some assessment methods and techniques to evaluate the resulting architectures and the behaviour of the components. In this case study exercise, REACT demonstrated its usefulness for real-world COTS and component selection exercises. | ||||||||||||||||
